Design
Website redesign without losing what already works
A redesign should keep the pages that earn traffic and fix the ones that do not. We start by finding out which is which, so nothing valuable gets designed away by accident.

Find out what is working first
Every redesign starts with a crawl of the existing site and an export of organic traffic by page. Some pages are quietly bringing in a large share of your enquiries. Those get protected. Others have never had a visitor and can go.
The three ways redesigns lose traffic
Redirects done in bulk to the homepage rather than page by page. Content shortened for visual reasons on pages that ranked because they were thorough. And a staging robots.txt shipped to production, which is far more common than anyone admits.
What to expect after launch
Two to four weeks of mild volatility while Google recrawls, then recovery. A sustained drop past six weeks is a redirect problem and it is fixable if caught early, which is why we watch daily.

Not with a proper migration plan. Expect short term volatility, then recovery. Lasting drops come from redirect mistakes rather than from redesigning.
Yes, and it is often the cheaper option. If your current CMS works for your team, a new theme and content structure on top of it may be all you need.
